Mek Update...

Crawling slowly toward completion. I think I might stop here and move on to painting him. I thought about adding mek boy odds-n-ends, but with the huge pack and choppa-tool, it might get too busy (if it's not already).
Besides, I need to scratch up some kannons so I can actually play a game...

See him finished here.

Wow! I like this conversion about 10 times as much as the GW model. Good move repositioning the arms, and good GS work on the shoulders and elsewhere. The lopsided pack and huge weapon balance each other out into some kind of Ork symetry. And the base is cool. Is that sand and gypsum?

Anyway, very nice. This guy is much more ominous now. I can't wait to see him painted. Don't be afraid of bright colors on this guy!

Thanks man, I almost didn't put the wires on the KFF, but I'm glad I did. It's nice when it goes that way, and you don't have to rip off something because it didn't turn out right.
Yeah, I'm going for Orky asymmetry while maintaining balance. The base is sand, but the 'rock' elements are just layers of CD case stacked up.
A couple more touches and he'll be ready for priming.

about priming: those white pieces aren't foam are they?

Not foam, I actually have a little bit of styrene rod left over from the architectural model days.

I'll probably use GW spray on him, but because that's expensive and I'm almost out, I'm testing alternatives. I primed a Nob with black gesso the other day, looks pretty good (I was only doing one and didn't want to go out in the cold). I'm also going to try some Krylon stuff. And some $0.99 walmart spray (terrain if nothing else).

I know you're planning on converting your cannons, but feel free to borrow my Orky artillery until you have your own.

Brent, I'll take you up on that and thank you. I need to get my games in but don't really have anything to play for the kannons at the moment.
My wife is out of town, so I'm not sure that I'll make it up tomorrow night. I'll try to send you an email and let you know.
