KFF BIG MEK...

...surprise surprise, a WIP. I wonder if I'll ever be able to post a finished project...

See him finished here.

Man, where did all this come from?

Awesome.

Thanks man, a long way to go, but I like it so far. While the pack and mektool/choppa might be too big, Orks are over the top about most things, so I'm rolling with it.

Almost everything there is from the last two starter sets...AoBR & BfM. CD cases are proving useful...and GS of course.

This model makes a stunning first impression. I love it. Great idea, too, having the Ork Mek scavenge SM feild generators to protect his unit. I can't wait to see it finished--on your "Works Completed" blog, of course.

Hey, I just noticed how much this guy resembles the picture on the Mekboyz page. Nice work! Are you planning on having little modeling wires crackling about the generator and green skull?

Yeah, I want to make the mek on the cheap, but have it be obvious what he is. I'm pretty much just copying what's shown in the codex and the GW model. I do want him to look more deadly though...not that my game play will back up the look...

MORE deadly? Are you kidding? That's the biggest Choppa I've ever seen! And I love his stance in these pics; it looks like the weight of his pack is being offset by the weight of his weapon--and it is causing him to lurch a little to the right.

Just paint a little blood running down the teeth of the metal jaw and you'll be fine!

Man, I'm really jealous. I keep coming back to look at this model. It's that good, and you've not been doing this stuff that long.

Keep it up!

Haha, there's always room for MORE deadly. I think I'll make the choppa bigger! Just kidding, I just meant that I wanted my KFF mek to look more deadly than the GW model, which I like, but that mek kind of looks like he's on lunch break, not about to kill something.

Brent, thanks for the compliment...I'm having fun working on this guy. Hopefully I don't ruin him when it comes time to paint.

Also, thanks for the kind words over on your site. I came up with 4 or 5 different lists, and kept discovering it's really hard to write a list when you've never played with any of the units (another reason this build-up is great, I can start over next month if I need to).
