40K TERRAIN, SKETCHUP OF PANEL #2

Okay, I skipped the floor panel for now...that will be mold #3.

Mold #2: The same mold could produce all three panels shown in the picture, depending on the spacer blocks I included. The foundation panels and parapet panels are mold #1 from the previous post.

I think the window mullion (center partition) is too thick...proportion is a little off, but I also think it's as slight as I'm comfortable with using the Durham's. It's not so off that a building made from these panels could be used to pad out a battlefield that had other GW or Pegasus items. (also, it'll be much less noticeable once "battle damage" is applied...)

I like the way these work with your previous panels. It's a good looking building. Q1: Do you have sheets (1/16th inch thick?) of foam you are using in the molds, or do you have to carve? Q2: Nice fascade; what about footing for the models? Maybe lightweight plasticard inserted into SHALLOW groves cut on the backside, glued in place and supported with the occassion L-brace? That's my remedial approach. Just curious what you had in mind... --Matt

Thanks, as you know, the ideas are easy, it's getting them on the table that's a struggle. Hopefully I can do this for our next battle.

Q1: no carving, while the foam came in different thicknesses, the 2mm bundle was cheapest and most abundant, so that's what i'm using. So, all panel details are achieved by varying the layers of foam.

Q2: Your idea for flooring is a good one, and I might have to do that to make the piece playable. Longer term, i'm interested in casting a floor panel that I can use at any level--ground, intermediate, or roof.
(everything GW does is basically repition of a wall panel, parapet panel, and floor panel, so i thought i'd crank out these basic building blocks myself)
Glue seems to work pretty good on this stuff, so I'd probably just glue floor panels to the wall panels, and yeah, provide a sprue-made L-bracket or cleat
